The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men’s tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested between teams of players from competing countries in a knock-out format. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. In 2005, 134 nations entered teams into the competition.
The 2010 Davis Cup will be the 99th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in men’s tennis. The competition will start with the First Round on 5–8 March and conclude with the Final on 3–5 December.
The draw for the World Group, Zonal Groups I and Zonal Groups II took place in Geneva on 23 September 2009.
