Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) was established on 2 October 1983 in Kottayam. The Mahatma Gandhi University has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council,India.
The University has 223 affiliated colleges spread over five districts in central Kerala.
The University enrolls 1,50,000 students on an average every year to 210 Courses in graduate, post graduate and M.Phil/Ph.D. programes through various departments and colleges.
